  • NCC offers remote transcription opportunities across a wide range of domains including medical, legal, academic, financial, public policy, government legislature, and investigative hearings. Accuracy and typing speed are essential because they produce verbatim transcripts on tight deadlines.

Work Flexibility & Requirements

  • Flexible scheduling: You have control over when and where you work, as long as you meet the weekly audio requirement.
  • A Windows (7 or higher) or macOS computer and high-speed internet are needed. NCC provides transcription software and productivity improvement tips to all transcribers.

Weekly Minimum & Pay Rate

  • Minimum workload: 3 audio hours (180 minutes) per week—translating roughly to 12 hours of work depending on your speed and experience.
  • Standard pay: $40 per audio hour after a brief training period, with potential for higher pay based on same-day or daytime availability, quality, and consistency.

Preferred Qualifications (Not Mandatory)

  • Degrees in fields such as English, creative writing, public policy, health or medical research, or social sciences.
  • Prior experience in transcription or captioning.
  • Familiarity with formatting styles like AP, MLA, or Chicago Manual of Style.
  • Ability to work independently, meet strict deadlines, and communicate clearly.
  • Intermediate computer skills, especially for installing and troubleshooting software.
  • Foreign language proficiency is a plus (NCC occasionally accepts translation work).
