What Transcription City Requires
Qualifications / Skills / Experience:
- At least 5 years’ professional experience in your chosen field or specialism.
- Suitable qualifications and at least 2 professional references.
- Typing speed of 60 words per minute (wpm).
- Strong proofreading skills: committed to producing very accurate transcripts, correct format, precise grammar & punctuation.
- A good ear: must handle tough audio (different accents, over-speaking, compromised audio quality).
- Attention to detail & willingness to research technical terms, brand names, etc.
Equipment / Technical Requirements:
- High-speed broadband.
- Digital equipment: foot pedals, headphones, and transcription software.
- Computer literacy; ability to adapt to new file formats; ability to play or convert audio/video files in “new and diverse formats”.
Work Terms:
- You work self-employed (contractor/freelancer) status: you must register as self-employed for tax purposes before working with them.
- Flexible work hours: you can “work at your own pace and organize your own time.”
Language & Scope:
- They are looking for transcriptionists in all languages, so if you have relevant experience in other languages you can apply.
