Absolute Transcription is seeking experienced medical transcriptionists to join their team. Here’s an overview of the position:


Position: Medical Transcriptionist

Location: Remote (United States)

Employment Type: Independent contractor

Specializations: Medical and general transcription


Requirements

  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years in clinic or acute care transcription.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Ability to download and play test files using FTP software.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Word (2010 or higher).
    • Experience with Express Scribe software.
    • Use of Abacus Line Counting software (a $20 purchase, tax-deductible).
  • Medical Knowledge: In-depth understanding of medical terminology, terms, and drugs.
  • Equipment:
    • Own computer with a sound card.
    • USB, serial, or game port foot pedal (models IN-DB9, IN-USB, or IN-BMG preferred).
    • Cable internet connection.
  • Performance Standards:
    • Full-time: 12,000 lines per pay period (approximately 40 hours/week).
    • Part-time: 8,000 lines per pay period (approximately 25–30 hours/week).
    • Adherence to a 24-hour turnaround time for assignments.
  • Payment: Bi-monthly (1st and 15th) via mail.
  • Tax Responsibility: As an independent contractor, you are responsible for your own taxes.
  • No Benefits: This position does not offer benefits.
