Overview

Ditto Transcripts is a U.S.-based transcription company specializing in medical, legal, law enforcement, financial, business, academic, and general transcription. They hire skilled, detail-oriented transcriptionists as either independent contractors or employees, all working remotely.


Who Can Apply

  • Must be a U.S. citizen and currently live in the United States.
  • Not eligible if you live in California, New Jersey, or Massachusetts.
  • Must consent to a criminal background check and be open to a phone interview.

Skills & Requirements

  • Strong grammar, spelling, punctuation, and listening skills.
  • Ability to meet strict deadlines with accuracy.
  • Professionalism and commitment to high-quality work.
  • Reliable computer with transcription software (Express Scribe or similar), headphones, and internet connection.
  • Typing speed and productivity expectations (lines per day for medical, minutes of audio for other fields).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word (and preferably Excel).

Application Process

  1. Complete an online application form with personal details, experience level, availability, and technical setup.
  2. Indicate which field(s) you are applying for:
    • Medical
    • Legal
    • Law Enforcement
    • Financial/Business
    • General/Academic
  3. Testing stage: Applicants must pass several assessments with 95% accuracy:
    • Grammar and spelling test.
    • Transcription of a single-person audio file.
    • Transcription of a multi-person interview (if applying for fields that require it).
  4. Only qualified candidates are contacted. Due to high volume, not everyone receives a reply.

Work Opportunities by Field

  • Law Enforcement: 911 calls, jail calls, suspect/witness interviews, undercover wires.
  • Medical: Pathology, radiology, orthopedic, primary care, and more.
  • Financial: Quarterly earnings calls, reports, conference calls.
  • Legal: Court hearings, depositions, virtual hearings, grand jury recordings.
  • General/Academic: Research interviews, historical recordings (e.g., WWII audio), varied unique projects.

Compensation

  • Medical transcription: Paid per line ($0.07–$0.10 per line).
  • Legal, law enforcement, financial, academic, general: Paid per audio minute ($0.80–$1.10 per minute).
  • Rush jobs and complex projects may pay much higher (up to $5.00/minute).
  • Payments issued twice monthly (1st and 15th) via Direct Deposit or PayPal.
  • Ditto claims to pay “above most competitors” to attract top talent.
