Job Overview
- CyberDictate operates with independent contractors (formerly called “CyberDictators”).
- Only experienced legal transcribers are accepted at this time.
- Must reside in the continental United States. U.S.-based transcribers only.
Equipment & Software Requirements (Before Testing)
Applicants must already have (i.e. before applying/test):
- A headset
- A foot pedal
- Transcription software capable of reading these audio formats: DSS, DS2, WAV, MP3, DVI, WMV, and also able to handle video formats like AVI, MPEG.
- Software: Up-to-date versions of Corel WordPerfect, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel
Experience, Skills & Other Requirements
- At least 3 full years of intensive legal transcription experience in law firms during the last ~5-7 years.
- Strong knowledge of legal terminology and the correct formatting of legal documents (pleadings, discovery, agreements, formal correspondence, etc.).
- Impeccable professional references (they do not accept personal references).
- Typing speed minimum of 85 words per minute (no exceptions).
- Availability during normal business hours.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines/time constraints.
Legal / Contractual Requirements
- Must provide proof of U.S. citizenship (or legal eligibility) if required.
- Must sign an Independent Contractor Agreement, which includes a Confidentiality / Non-Disclosure Agreement.
How & When Applicants Are Considered
- CyberDictate accepts new applicants on a first-come, as-needed basis. They are not always hiring constantly; they contact candidates when needed.
- The testing is done after confirming that all prerequisites (experience, equipment, etc.) are met.
What Kind of Work They Do & Who Their Clients Are
- CyberDictate offers legal transcription services. Their clients are mainly law firms, insurance companies, law enforcement/protective services.
- They handle legal correspondence, pleadings, statements, case reports, interviews, phone conversations, etc.
