Pay Rate

  • Transcribers are paid between $0.90 and $2.75 per minute of audio content.
  • There’s also potential for additional pay for certain types of work or for tighter deadlines.

What Types of Material You’d Transcribe

  • Variety of media: narrative/documentary films, reality shows, lectures, meetings, interviews, podcasts, etc.
  • Some projects are simple; others are highly detailed (e.g. requiring post-production terminology and attention to complexity).

Qualifications & Requirements

To be considered, you must meet all of these:

  1. Experience
    • At least one year of transcription experience in the entertainment industry.
    • Working knowledge of post-production terminology.
  2. Location & Language
    • Must be a U.S. resident (they do not hire outside the U.S.).
    • Fluency in English with excellent grammar and spelling.
  3. Employment & Legal
    • Work under a 1099-NEC contractor arrangement.
    • Able to provide I-9 identification.
    • Sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA).
  4. Availability & Capacity
    • Available to produce at least 4-5 hours of transcribed material over a 7-day period.
  5. Equipment & Setup
    • Own a reliable computer with Microsoft Word and high-speed Internet.
    • Have transcription software (Express Scribe, InqScribe, or similar) with a foot pedal or hot-keys.
    • Use of headphones for transcription.
  6. Technical & Personal Attributes
    • Strong attention to detail and quality, meeting accuracy and deadline requirements.
    • Good computer skills; able to troubleshoot software/hardware issues independently.

Application Process

  • Send a cover letter and a resume, including details of your transcription experience, the software and equipment you use, to their email address.
  • Must complete a skills test with a score of at least 90%.
  • If you pass, there is a Zoom interview.
  • If selected, they’ll contact you about moving forward; submitting to them does not guarantee a contract.
